The world is populated with many beings or forces that could be helpful (or at least not actively harmful) to your players. You can use any or all of these different types though some will suit different types of events. Creatures refers to any non-sapient being, they likely cannot be reasoned with but can be placated with things like food. Magic is an unpredictable environmental effect that cannot be talked to but can be encouraged, discouraged, contained or released. People refers to sapient beings that can be talked to and allied with.
Creatures
There are many strange creatures that exist within the setting. We have been intentionally vague on the exact specifics of what type of creatures exist so you are free to come up with anything that suits the story that you are telling. We only ask that you do not include anything that could be labelled as a typical high fantasy dragon.
See ‘Monsters’ in the Threats section for more.
Magic
Not all magical effects are dangerous. Some magic can be of a gentle, restorative, or positive nature. Unless it is situated around a specific thing, it is unlikely to stick around for long. Magic can take many, many forms from a general aura to magical plants to the land reforming randomly. The easiest way to represent a magical environmental effect is with roleplaying effects that apply to everyone in a specific area.
See the Magic entry in the Threats section for more.
People
There are many types of people that can be found. Most will be from one of the six surviving factions (though purists will be unlikely to ally themselves with other factions outside of exceptional circumstances). There also exist individuals who survive on their own, scavenging the wastes around London, these people are likely very skittish and hardened, having to face the perilous land alone. Do not create any types of people outside of the currently available Genera.
Give your named NPCs an archetype and skill like you would with players.
Established NPCs
All factions have a few established NPCs that tend to encompass the leadership (e.g. Dean of the Erudites). If you wish to include one or more of them, you will need to discuss this with the Summit gamerunners.
Administrators
It is possible for Administrators to be found outside of the Summit. They will typically be either monitoring dangerous situations or carrying out the tasks necessary for how the Summit Resources were assigned. Administrators should be rare, no more than one or two at an event. All Administrators should be veiled and wear funeral attire, it is also a good idea to give them pallid, undead makeup. Administrators are a hivemind and refer to themselves either in the plural (we, our). If they are referring to themselves as that specific admin they will say ‘This body’. Anything an Administrator experiences must be reported back to the Summit game team in as much accurate detail as possible.
Due to being dead, Administrators are unaffected by pain or harm. Their bodies do not regenerate so if a body ever becomes too damaged to function, the hive mind will simply abandon it and possess a different one.
Administrators are highly magical and can produce strange effects not able to be performed by any player. However, they are completely and absolutely dedicated to the goal of restoring civilization and cannot be swayed from it so getting them to do this magic will be difficult. Administrators are always unwilling to provide any information that doesn’t directly matter to their current task unless magically compelled to.
