Players may choose to play as their Delegate, or they may choose to play as a new character. These new characters should be from a faction and genus that are available in the main Summit rules. Actively Purist player characters are forbidden even at these events. You are free to include Purist NPCs.
Non-Delegate characters can be from any walk of life within a faction but they likely should be of a lower influence level than a Delegate to further allow for interaction on a more grounded level for these events.
Archetypes
Characters will choose one of the Archetypes available to them at character creation from the main Summit rules. The Archetype they choose will give them access to a specific skill they can use. There are four base skills; Combat, Crafting, Healing & Investigation. Some Archetypes offer choices in which case the player must choose ONE of the skills available.
- Architect:Crafting
- Doctor: Healing
- Explorer: Investigation OR Crafting
- Immortal: Any ONE of the four
- Innocent: Crafting OR Healing OR Investigation
- Killer: Combat
- Libertine: Crafting OR Investigation
- Scholar: Investigation
- Spy: Investigation OR Combat
- Survivor: Healing OR Combat
- Traveler: Combat OR Investigation
- Visionary: Investigation
Players who play as their Delegate from the Summit are encouraged to pick one of the Archetypes their character has. If the Delegate has gained a Primordial Archetype (e.g. Monster) during play they may instead choose one of the Archetypes they have gained and get the special Primordial skill.
Genus
If a player is playing as their Delegate, the Genus should remain consistent unless they are intending to change their Genus for their next Summit. It is also possible for some characters to change their Genus during play. Humans may become Warlocks if exposed to high levels of magic. Any character may become a Lycan if bitten or a Dusk Vampire if fed a Dusk vampire’s blood. This should never be done without a player’s consent. Becoming a Dawn Vampire should not happen during up time as it is an involved and secret process.
It is advised that Dusk Vampire players at a field event include heavy sun protection such as large hats or cloaks.
Faction
While characters can technically be from any of the playable factions, it is entirely reasonable and realistic to put restrictions for your event. Full inter faction cooperation is rare and is typical to have an event be set in one faction or in the no man’s land between two. When dealing with multiple factions at an event, remember that the factions are pretty territorial. Be clear whose territory (if anyone’s) the event is taking place in and make sure that your npcs have clear allegiances.
If you have an Administrator or Purist present, be sure you use them in accordance with their nature. Administrators are absolutely neutral, they do not pick sides or show favour. Purists are mostly hostile showing little favour towards anyone (though they may be nicer to human characters they think they can win over).
Artefacts
If a player is playing their delegate, there is a chance that they may have an Artefact with them. At On the Ground events they will have the following effects (as well as their rp effects):
- Blood Periapts, Akashic Stones, and Thaumaturgic Dross will have no effect beyond rp.
- Soul Jars can act the same as at the Summit to stand in for someone in a ritual
- Hands of Glory can give characters with the Investigation skill additional information from refs
- Black Blades are an enchanted weapon that can bypass armour.
- Apocalyptic Lances are dangerous. If one detonates, all characters (pc or npc) at the event are immediately killed.
