Character Creation

Each player character at The Summit consists of four elements: their Genus, Faction, Archetypes and Traits.

Step 1: Genus

Pick one Genuses that describes the type of being your character is. Your choice of Genus gives you one or more roleplaying effects, and may affect your involvement in certain Rituals.

There are currently six Genuses available to starting player characters; Humans, Warlocks, Fae, Lycanthropes, Dawn Vampires and Dusk Vampires.

Step 2: Faction

Pick one of five Factions, determining the people you’re representing and the ideology you’re attending the Summit to promote. Your choice of Faction gives you one vote in that Faction’s votes.

The factions available are; Erudites, Evolvers, Pilgrim, Survivalist, & Traditionalist

Step 3: Traits

Character Traits represent what you bring to the table; the skills you can deploy and the people you have at home backing you up.

You have five character traits to assign. For each trait, pick between a Personal Resource and a Ritual.

Personal Resources

Personal Resources give you influence over some aspect of society that you can assign as you wish. Each trait in Personal Resource gives you a point of personal resources. Pick an Aspect for each resource, divided how you wish among those available.

The Aspects available for starting Personal Resources are Violence, Underworld, Faith, Sorcery, Technology, Nature, Research, Espionage, Communications, Medicine, Culture and Trade. The details of what each Aspect might represent are available here.

Rituals

If you select this trait, you know how to perform Ritual Magic, and have access to the materials to do so.

For each trait in Rituals you have, pick a Ritual that you know, and pick if you begin play with either a Symbol or Flesh oblation token.

Step 4: Archetypes

An Archetype represents the sort of person you fundamentally are. An Archetype has little effect by itself but many Rituals require particular Archetypes to be present in order to work (if you’re a ritualist, it’s suggested that you select the Archetypes required for the rituals you intend to cast).

You choose up to three archetypes.

The Archetypes available to starting player characters are: Architect, Doctor, Explorer, Immortal, Innocent, Killer, Libertine, Survivor, Scholar, Spy, Traveller, Visionary.

Step 5: Final Details

At this point, the mechanical aspects of your character are done. Give them a name, and come up with as much backstory as you want for them.
